The History of The Orchards Golf Club

The history of The Orchards began in 1922 when Joseph Skinner commissioned Scotsman Donald J. Ross to design the course. The course was originally just nine holes – the final nine was added under the architect’s deliberate guidance in 1927. In 1941, the course was donated to Mount Holyoke College, where it has remained hidden away for golfers to enjoy.

Today, more than 90 years later, The Orchards Golf Club is preserved in time – a testament to the brilliance of Donald J. Ross. The Orchards is rated one of the top ten college courses in the country. CBIGG Golf Management Company acquired the management of the Orchards to oversee all operations. CBIGG also owns or manages 26 golf courses nationwide with 8 golf courses being in the Northeast.

Members enjoy practice facilities including a full driving range, vast putting green, and a chipping green with a traditional Donald Ross bunker. Our clubhouse is a comfortable setting where members gather to socialize and enjoy the camaraderie of membership. The clubhouse includes a golf shop, grill room, dining room, outside patio overlooking the course, and locker rooms.
